Where Are They Now? An update on former Drake student Athletes - Jan. 2013, Josh Levenson and Jeremy Knudsen

Information, news, and announcements about Drake's former student athletes. Answering the question "Where Are They Now"?

Jeremy Knudsen, 2003 Drake Graduate. Played basketball, soccer and golf

Continuing his education at the University of Hawaii, Jeremy became very familiar with the Hawaiian surf, was a sideman in music as a drummer and majored in Environmental Science. Working in the Bay Area solar industry was a valuable experience but his passion for Hawaiian horticulture, giving surf lessons to youth and the development of his musical career have steered Jeremy in his own direction.

Jeremy performs in the Bay Area regularly writing and singing his own special brand of conscientious hip hop under the name of SOL DOC. Jeremy's website at www.soldocmusic.com will give you insight into his musical journey. You can watch and feel his video energy in his signature recordings of Life is a Blessing and Northern Cali Grown. Jeremy will never be a starving artist as the basic food groups of generosity, community mindedness and a passion for the        surf are always abundantly filling his appetite.

After Drake Josh went to the University of Wisconsin, Madison and graduated with a degree in Real Estate Business.  He then became a LEED AP and worked for a time helping building owners and developers get their buildings certified as being “green”.

Josh briefly moved back to Marin with his then girlfriend, now fiancé, Annie Roesler before they moved to Hawaii together to open up Annie’s Island Fresh Burgers (www.anniesislandfreshburgers.com).  “Annie’s”, as it is commonly referred to serves delicious gourmet  burgers, sandwiches, and sides made only from fresh, local, and organic ingredients.  It has won West Hawaii Today’s  “Best Burger On The Island”  award 2 years running and plans on making it 3.  Fellow Drake Alum Kai Gulisano also moved to Hawaii to help open the restaurant and now manages the day-to-day operations with Annie having moved back to Madison, and Josh splitting time between the mid-west and far-west.

What’s happening in the real estate market?

In 2012 the Marin Market started slowly but caught fire in April. With mortgage rates at record lows and a general outlook that the bottom was behind us buyers started jumping off the fence. Sellers were not too quick to react as the housing inventory dropped creating multiple offer situations to the dismay of many buyers when the situation became very competitive. In 2013 expect a similar frenzy. If you have experienced that multiple offer frustration I can help you with a strategy. If you want to sell or know your home’s value, I’m here to give you my opinion.

What’s going on in the mortgage industry?

Interest rates hit and stayed near historic lows for much of 2012 as the economy remained anemic, and concerns over the European debt crisis drove capital into investments that are perceived to be safer such as precious metals and loans secured by real estate.  The Fed has stated that they are committed to keeping rates low for financial institutions through 2013 which should help to keep mortgage rates low as well, but the fiscal cliff compromise has pushed rates up slightly making it hard to predict where rates will be both in the short and longer term.
