Drake Sinks Justin-Siena

Girls water polo beats Braves 13-4.

The Pirates' were led by a number of goals from freshman to come out on top of the Braves 13-4.

"The game was closer than the score indicated," said coach Peter Galli.

Justin-Siena had a strong drop-back defense, said Galli, forcing the Pirates to pass more and take long shots. Though the Drake team could manage the passing, they're still struggling with the killer instinct to take shots on goal.

Two freshmen, April Denny with two goals and Olivia Kola with one goal, were brought up from the JV team starting for today's game to join a number of other freshmen who helped with the goals today, including Lilly Jarrett with two and Julia Kinsolving with one.

The new players brings a new energy, said Galli, "that I think the team will embrace and feed off." After the first quarter of this afternoon's game, the team picked up the intensity and pace. Galli hopes they'll be able to put together a full game as the season comes to an end.
