The Fairfax Ecofest, held alongside the traditional Fairfax Festival, is not to be missed this year! Come up to the Pavilion and share your ideas with local environmental groups, shop for organic goods and services, indulge in organic food, view art, explore our interactive activities…and there’s a whole field of fun for the kids, too!
Saturday and Sunday, don’t miss organic beer and wine tasting featuring a wide variety of local and international producers. New this year: an opportunity to sample cheese, olive oil and chocolate! The Ecofest Music Stage hosts local performers to keep you entertained from noon to 6:30pm.
This year’s festival marks the introduction of the 2012 FairBuck, featuring an image of a bike sprocket to honor our town's rich biking heritage. It’s an opportunity to invest in Fairfax and keep that money circulating right here in town. Fairbuck tokens will be available at $3.00 each, or 7 for $20.00 both at Ecofest and at the Festival information booth. The tokens are accepted in town at participating businesses.

Since its inception in 2004, Ecofest has showcased vast changes in public awareness and behavior. And the Town of Fairfax has long been a leader in the sustainability movement, too. By passing a pesticide notification ordinance, forming the open space committee, limiting chain stores and adopting styrofoam-free and nuclear free ordinances, Fairfax is a model for communities wanting to make a difference at the local level. Fairfax has also been in the center of nationwide issues including the GMO-free campaign, efforts to “Stop the Spray” in Marin, the voter approved ban on plastic takeout bags and most recently, the moratorium on Smart Meters.
