San Geronimo Valley Habitat Restoration

Friday, January 28 | 1 – 4pm

Day one of a two day volunteer project: Help MCOSD and community partners from the San Geronimo Valley Planning Group and SPAWN harvest plants from a section of the Willis Evans Trail, which will be improved summer 2011. The harvested plants will be replanted along the Candelero Trail the following day (Saturday, January 29). The work requires hiking and a moderate level of activity, and it is suitable for volunteers over 8 years of age. Training, tools, gloves, water, and snacks will be provided. Wear weather appropriate layered clothing and sturdy boots. Heavy rain will cancel. Meet at the entrance to the Conifer Ridge Fire Road, near the intersection of Carson and Conifer Way. Parking is limited, please carpool.

Day two of a two day volunteer project: Help us take the plants that we gathered on Friday, January 29 and re-plant them along a portion of the newly-reconstructed Candelero Trail. Planting requires a moderate level of activity; this is a family-friendly workday that is suitable for all ages. Training, tools, gloves, water, and snacks will be provided. Wear weather appropriate layered clothing and sturdy boots. Heavy rain will cancel. Meet at the entrance to the Candelero Trail. Because parking is extremely limited, there will be a shuttle vehicle leaving from the Paper Mill Creek Saloon on 1 Castro Street in Forest Knolls at 8:45am. Please be on time.
