Pirate Trio Makes All-MCAL Girls Soccer Second Team

Emma Meckfessel, Ella Fries and Hannah Halstenson honored after Drake's highly successful season; Tia Ferrando and Maddie Smith claim Honorable Mention distinctions.

Three standouts from 's Marin County Athletic League playoffs finalist in girls soccer were named to the all-league second team in balloting announced this week.

Defender , midfielder and forward were picked among the 12 girls on the All-MCAL second team.

No Pirates were named to the 12-player first team.

The second-team honor for Meckfessel, a senior, was her second in two years. Fries, a junior, was an Honorable Mention selection in 2010.

Drake's five selections overall ranked second to Redwood's seven.

The All-MCAL first team consisted of forwards Storie Ledger of Tam, Kelly Groves of Redwood and Alana Shaw of Branson, midfielders Madison Tye of Terra Linda, Olivia Do of Redwood, Darcy McFarlane of Branson and Kayla Coffee of San Rafael, defenders Kristi Cascio and Clare Renk of Marin Catholic, Nicole Henderson of Tam and Zoe Trutner of Redwood, and goalie Rachel Mehr of San Marin.

Tam's Kalia Rothlind was selected as the MCAL Player of the Year.
