Facing tough competition from the North Bay and from San Francisco, all three San Anselmo Little League All-Star teams made it to the finals in late July, with the oldest team taking the championship.
San Anselmo's 12-and-under team took the championship with a win in the tournament's final game over El Cerrito Blue.
"They played great," said Marcus Yamane, a member of the San Anselmo Little League board of directors. "It was a good smattering of teams from around the Bay Area."
The 11-and-under All-Star team fell to the Albany Comets and the best players from San Francisco Youth Baseball defeated San Anselmo's 10-and-under team.
"For the most part, I think our teams played pretty well," Yamane said. "It's a big accomplishment."
Teams were comprised of players from 15 San Anselmo Little League teams.
Yamane said that he and fellow coaches were pleasantly surprised with the effort put forth by the Little Leaguers, saying that there have been a few years were local teams haven't made it that far. Placing three teams in the finals, he said, showed how much the organizations have grown recently.
"I think our program is getting better," Yamane said. "The kids are showing that they can stand their own from elsewhere in the Bay Area."
