Tetrick Continues Comeback with Win at San Rafael Twilight Crit

Nearly two years ago, Mill Valley cyclist Alison Tetrick was in a world of hurt, having crashed in the BMC Cascade Cycling Classic in Oregon, losing consciousness for more than a minute, suffering a seizure and sustaining a concussion and fractured pelvis.

Since then, Tetrick's comeback trail has been littered with setbacks, but the 27-year-old pro showed she's still one of the best around as she blazed to a victory in the women's pro race at the San Rafael Twilight Criterium Saturday night riding for the San Anselmo-based Exergy Twenty12 team.

"This is my best win in a long time," Tetrick told the Marin Independent Journal. "I've lived in Marin since 2008, so winning in front of a crowd that I know and that have supported me and helped me through my ups and downs is pretty important for me."

Tetrick is two months into her latest comeback after sustaining multiple concussions over an 18-month period starting with the Oregon crash. The Exergy Tour in May was her first race against international competition in more than a year, according to Cycling News. Late last month, she finished on the podium at the 30k Time Trial at the U.S. National Championships.
