Muir Woods, All National Parks Are Free Saturday
As part of National Get Outdoors Day, the National Park Service to give free admission to all 397 national parks, including the gem right in Marin's backyard.
A visit to Marin's or any of the 397 national parks across the U.S. are free this Saturday as part of National Get Outdoors Day, according to park officials.
The fifth-annual version of the celebration is an effort to encourage healthy outdoor activities at sites across the country.

Muir Woods National Monument, the famous redwood forest right in our backyard here in Mill Valley, usually costs $7 for an adult to enter for the day but will allow visitors for free Saturday for the celebration.
Other outdoor activities are also planned for Saturday around the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, including a hike to the shipwrecks at Land's End and a guided walk through the National Cemetery in the Presidio, according to National Park Service officials.

"Outdoor physical activity is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle and the Golden Gate National Parks is a great place to get out and enjoy so many different activities," Golden Gate National Recreation Area General Superintendent Frank Dean said in a statement.
The park service will also have four more free entrance days this year: Sept. 29 for National Public Lands Day and Nov. 10 through 12 for Veteran's Day weekend.
