“I spend a lot of time with my granddaughter,” Maynard said, referring to the four-and-a-half-year-old Taylor Ann. “Sometimes we have her every weekend depending on what her parents’ schedule is. My life use to be playing golf on the weekend or working on the house, but now my life revolves around our granddaughter.”

Maynard, who Taylor Ann calls “Pop,” and his wife, Janice, take their granddaughter all over the Bay Area and beyond. “We went to the zoo last weekend and we take her on vacations with us.” They also may stay close to home in Sonoma County and go to the park or to the movies. “She’s just a joy to be with.”

Southern California swimming

Sometimes Maynard and Janice take Taylor Ann to their home in Southern California, where they spend most of their time swimming. Maynard said after he retires he’s planning on spending more time in Southern California.
