Pets for Peaceful Dissent

Pets for Peaceful Dissent - Domesticated animals as activists for positive social and political change.

I read the article "Dogs Join the Fight Against Cancer" and I've been incredibly inspired by Meagan Dowell's San Rafael Bark for Life.  I may just need to up my med dosage, but I think the whole concept of pets as activists for social and political change could really make a significant impact on public perception of important issues.  My own pet (pun intended) issues right now are the systematic erosion of our individual Constitutional liberties, the increasing criminalization of dissent, the militarization of our police, and the complete failure of the mainstream media;  but, I can easily envision the role forward-thinking pets could play in, for example, the Occupy movement.  Humans are not the only species made homeless by unethical/fraudulent banking practices.  We as a population may not be overly concerned with the increasing number of people living on the streets;  but sure as heck, we'd pull our resources together for a poor, homeless Lost Dog or Lost Cat.  And let's say our pets get a little upset about social injustice and step over that legal line just a bit to engage in a little civil disobedience.  Can you imagine the storm of outrage that would result over Rover's or Fluffy's arrest or impoundment.  My God!, we'd have nation-wide riots if Spot or Whiskers was roughed-up and pepper-sprayed.  I can go on and on.  Foreign Policy?  Thousands of innocent men, women, and children dead or injured due to the actions of unconstitutional and illegal foreign interventions?  All it would take is a few graphic images of dead or injured puppies and kittens from operations or drone strikes overseas and public support for military actions abroad would vanish.  I really think I'm on to something with this.  I hope somebody runs with this. Oh, by the way, here's an interesting viewpoint http://rt.com/usa/news/wolf-interview-039/
