Where: Northgate Mall, San Rafael
Leave 2013 behind and have fun starting off the new year happy and healthy. This year's Resolution Fun Run and Mad Dash to Midnight 5K are presented by the San Francisco and Marin Food Banks and MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving).
Wednesday, Jan. 1
When: 10:30 a.m.
Where: Bullet Hill at China Camp State Park (N. San Pedro Road, San Rafael)
Come to China Camp State Park to clear your head and welcome the new year while learning about science and nature.
Thursday, Jan. 2
Essay Contest (5th to 8th graders)
When: 7 a.m.
Where: Elks Lodge (1312 Mission Avenue, San Rafael)
Download an entry form Elks 1108 and submit no later than January 8th for a chance to win prizes. Marin County winners go on to district and national levels for more prizes and winners. All middle schoolers (fifth to eighth grade) are invited to participate.
Friday, Jan. 3
When: 8 p.m.
Where: HopMonk Tavern (224 Vintage Way Novato)
The high-energy rock and roots band was a finalist in the prestigious "Race to TRI" song contest.
