Jerrilee Geist of Novato was a runner-up, and two Santa Rosa students were winners, in a recent Beach Blanket Babylon scholarship competition.

Geist, who attends Marin School of the Arts, was one of nine Bay Area high school senior finalists in the Steve Silver Foundation/Beach Blanket “scholarship for the arts” contest.
Nicholas Chuba of Santa Rosa High and Jake Brinskele of Sonoma Academy each won $10,000 cash scholarships toward their college tuition, Chuba in the acting category, Brinskele for voice.

Judges included rapper-actor M.C. Hammer, conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, KGO-TV’s Don Sanchez and cabaret singer Paula West.
This is the 10th year the scholarships were awarded.
