Built over 40 years ago, White Hill Middle School serves sixth to eighth graders in San Anselmo and Fairfax. It is the only public middle school for the Ross Valley School District. The school, located at the far west end of Fairfax off of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, is situated on 22 acres and surrounded by open space and hills. White Hill is a California Distinguished School with an Academic Performance Index (API) of 898 out of 1,000, putting it in the top 10 percent of schools in California. The principal, David Finnane, is also making an effort to reach out to the community and focus on the positive things the students are achieving. The school will be the focus of an expansion-based construction effort in the coming years, as the district focuses on addressing enrollment growth.
