Concerned? We live in an ignorant apathetic belief filled knee jerk society of ownership andRead More destruction as all life is reduced to dollar values, and the commons of Nature which supports all life, is reduced to toxic and lifeless landfills. Patch is just another manifestation of the mess we have made of our finite lil planet.

Patch is just another manifestation of the mess we have made of our finite lil planet. And ultimately, it is WE the consumer, with ever disposable made to break product we buy, and with every flip of the switch, turn of the key, overly heated and cooled home or building, etc, etc, etc, act of life we make. We are choosing, with ever dollar we spend, what the future will be....

While Alex doesn't give details, it does seem that the elementary schools have been dysfunctionalRead More for a while. The middle school seems to be well run and on a great path. Let's hope the principal (Finnane) stays around. The board has had different members of the years, and they do not seem to be at fault. I do not know the cause of the problems, but one good guess would be the demanding and difficult parents here.

Wow. I would like to say that it has been an incredible year for my 5th grader at Manor School.Read More Thank you to the supportive and positive principal and teachers who have worked so hard for the students. The community has come together numerous times, and proved itself to be exactly the kind of school I am proud to support ~ a place of learning, acceptance, and a joyful celebration of childhood. Thank you!

You are proving to be a bitter old fool , rex. You are referring to me, a she. I do not care whatRead More your opinion is regarding transgender individuals is since creeps like you are dying out anyway. The fact Is, i am legally and physically female, dont like it rex? I do not giva a damm. I served onboard the USS Haleakala AE 25 during the Vietnam era. I have not stated ever, in any fashion to be a combat veteran, but I am, in fact a Vietnam era veteran. I served with honor. I have been a volunteer at the SFVAMC and I am in college in order to become a peer counselor so that I can work and serve my fellow veterans at SFVAMC. My family had served this country for many generations, for example, my father retired after 22 years, my uncle after 20 years, my uncle after 32 years whom captained the USS Ponce and the USS Oriskany, he began as an enlisted man. As a vietnam era veteran I receive the finest medical care on the planet at no cost to me. Along with educational benefits. I receive all my medical care at the San Francisco veterans administration medical center, Ft. Miley. As a transgender veteran I receive all my hormonal transition care there, my name and gender marker has been changed reflecting my transition, by and at the veterans administration. I am treated with respect and dignity by the veterans administration. I respect my fellow veterans for thier service, even fools like you. I earned my freedom of speech and expression. You have your drunken opinions and hate speech, I served in order to protect the Constitution of the United States of America, which protects your sorry ass and ignorant hate speech.

Ha! Selena, you have outed yourself! I don't mean any of that transgender stuff. You can dress inRead More a tutu and wear a tiara for all I care. As a combat vet from that period, I do find it abhorrent that you use the term "Vietnam era". There is a huge difference between what you did for service and what I and my buddies did, and what we came home to. So why don't you go back to posting selfies of yourself on Patch and Facebook since you seem to need the attention.

These detention basins are a blighted silt hole for the entire year. In winter the silt and waterRead More drowns all life and in summer nothing grows because no seed except seasonal weeds can survive. The maintenance is year round, mosquitos from late draining standing water in ponding areas, removal of seasonal weeds by poison or mow, scrape out infill from standing water, retrace yearly flow exits. This is California, there are highs and lows, if you buy in a low it is not the town, city or county that is responsible for NATURAL DISASTERS! Each home owner is responsible if they live in the flood zone. I've lived here in the middle of the flood zone for 60 years, seen many floods, rule is be aware of the weather, park the car on higher ground, be ready to put furniture and rugs up. If there is a culpable entity it is the planning dept. they should not OK any building or re-building of homes or businesses that are not raised off the ground by less that 4 ft. I watched with amazement as the San Anselmo Fire Dept. built that beautiful new building right on the ground so it can be flooded again. If you want to slow the runoff, the town, city, county should invest in creating a deeper vegetative berm system that will naturally guide water into it's channel, keep it there and filter the debris that causes the most blockage. You can't fight hydraulics but you can direct it.

the one athletic field that probably no one would mind being a detention basin is not even on theRead More list, The artificial turf behind the red hill center in front of sunnyhills. Obviously the dog park users would object.... but reality is that the town doesn't flood because of the runoff from Sorich, (which would pertain to the memorial park DB) but mainly from the san anselmo creek flowing in from Fairfax. and if one really looks at the flood from 2005, fairfax flooded because of clogged culverts, and then there was an area of san anselmo that did not flood, but then another clogged culvert at Nokomis created the flood in town. It should be agreed that all houses in the flood plain are raised. oddly many older buildings in the area have been raised or perhaps originally designed that way, because flooding has been a way of life in the ross valley for 100 years.... but now most have apartment units in the lower areas!! I guess it doesn't flood enough for the property owner to be concerned about their ground floor tenants. so why should the town take on a repugnant use of open space like a detention basin. - something people should also look at is the recent fill in of the natural wetland/detention area BEHIND the Whitehill school before they make the fields after Whitehill school a DB.

Yes, this is a very important issue to the people of San Anselmo. A small number of homes andRead More stores are affected by the flooding while hundreds use Memorial Park on a regular basis. Also, the ugly basin will not eliminate the flooding--only reduce it slightly. Lastly, notice the Town Council member(s) who have a conflict with voting on this issue.
