The San Anselmo Co-Op Nursery School is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization, owned and administered by theMore parents. The school was founded in Fairfax in June 1947 as the Fairfax Community Nursery School. In 1963, the school, now known as the San Anselmo Co-Operative Nursery School, purchased the current property at 24 Myrtle Lane, finally acquiring the permanent home the administrators had so long desired.</p> <p> </p>

San Domenico School

Founded in 1850, San Domenico is a private school located on 500 acres at the end of Butterfield Road, in SleepyMore Hollow. The school, founded by Catholic sisters, includes a co-ed preschool through 8th grade day-school program and a girls' boarding high school program. The campus, surrounded by lush hills and open space, is known particularly for its Music-Virtuoso Program and Riding School. International students come to attend the music program.</p> <p>Tuition ranges from $9,975 for the half-day preschool program to $42,800 for the high school boarding program. Some financial assistance is provided, which students can apply for. There is an extensive application process and students can visit the campus before applying.</p> <p>In addition to the schools' programs, the campus is also used for summer camps, horse riding classes at the riding school, and a number of community events. In 2008, the school unveiled an extensive solar system to help power the campus' energy use.</p>

The school, located at the far west end of Fairfax off of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, is situated on 22 acres and surrounded by open space and hills. White Hill is a California Distinguished School with an Academic Performance Index (API) of 898 out of 1,000, putting it in the top 10 percent of schools in California. The principal, David Finnane, is also making an effort to reach out to the community and focus on the positive things the students are achieving. The school will be the focus of an expansion-based construction effort in the coming years, as the district focuses on addressing enrollment growth.
Sleepy Hollow Nursery School

RegistrationMore requires current immunization records, a current physical clearance from your pediatrician, required registration fee and completed information and permission forms provided in the enrollment package.</p> <p>The school serves two healthy snacks each day. Parents can provide lunch or choose the daily lunch program. Parents are invited to volunteer and Spanish is taught and spoken. Two other enrichment programs are Nature Teacher and Art. There are two, three, and four-day tuitions available.</p>

Isabel Cook School & Community Center

The Isabel Cook School has a long history in the community. Built in 1927, it was first called the Red Hill SchoolMore and renamed for longtime principal Isabel Cook upon her death in 1949. Closed in 1975 and put up for sale, the school was purchased by the town of San Anselmo in a complex transaction involving federal funds. Today, the multipurpose building is used as a community center for recreation programs and local artists.
Sir Francis Drake High School

Sir Francis Drake High School, situated on a 21-acre campus, serves students between 9th and 12th grade in the TamalpaisMore Unified District. Established in 1951, the school has since been named a California Distinguished School. Its Academic Performance Index (API) is 851 out of 1,000, its average ACT is 23 and nearly 80 percent of graduates go on to four-year colleges. It addition to its college-preparatory curriculum, the school offers the choice of integrated academies to 11th and 12th graders. Integrated academies include communications, engineering, environmental science and global visions. A 2001 modernization bond allowed for facility renovations as well as new science classrooms, computers, and a modernized library. The school has extensive sports programs and extracurriculars, including one of the first high school mountain bike teams.
Manor Elementary School

Manor School is one of three K-5 schools in the Ross Valley School District, and is the only public elementary schoolMore located in Fairfax. In addition to traditional classrooms, Manor features a Multi-Age Program (MAP) with classes that encompass grades K-1, 2-3, and 4-5. Though Manor primarily serves kids in Fairfax, some district residents come from outside the school's boundaries to attend the MAP program. Because the school is set amid the Oak Manor community and surrounded by trees and open space, Manor has also worked to maintain its neighborhood feel and connection to the community. Along with core classes, Manor offers art and music to its students. The district's Yes! Foundation also funds physical education and arts programs, and provides theater opportunities for the students annually. And the school works with the town recreation department to offer a variety of different afterschool programs throughout the year.
Ross Valley School District

The Ross Valley School District covers three elementary schools and one middle school serving San Anselmo and Fairfax.More The district enrolled 1,973 students for the 2009-10 year at Manor Elementary School in Fairfax, Wade Thomas Elementary and Brookside Elementary in San Anselmo, and White Hill Middle School at the west end of Fairfax. Currently, the district is undergoing change with the hiring of a new Superintendent and with a proposed bond measure on the November 2010 ballot. The bond measure is part of an effort to address enrollment growth with a plan to add additional classrooms to the elementary schools and expand the facilities at White Hill. In addition, Brookside, which is currently divided into two campuses for grades K-2 and grades 3-5, will become two K-5 elementary schools in the 2011-12 school year. The district board of trustees meets the first and third Thursday of the month at 6pm at the district offices on Shaw Drive, behind the Red Hill Shopping Center.

The classrooms each have core teachers and the students take classes like arts, music, theater, physical education and sign language with specialty teachers. The school has become more involved with the community at large, even working with the town this year to put on Kidzstock -- a large, kids' music festival. Applications for admittance are accepted starting in January and February for the following year. Tuition for one student is $14,238, with discounts for families with multiple kids enrolled.
Brookside School Upper Campus

The Upper Campus has a large amount of open play space and is located at the base of the Sleepy Hollow - Terra Linda Open Space ridge. It was also modernized, recently, to incorporate technology into the curriculum and to provide a revamped multi-purpose room.
San Anselmo Montessori School
