Suspicious Van Offers Ride to Boy

Third incident with suspicious van approaching children in Ross Valley.

Tuesday afternoon, San Anselmo Police reported the third incident of a suspicious van approaching a young child in the past few weeks. A 13-year-old boy reported to police that he was standing in front of the fire station on Butterfield Road around 3:30 p.m. when he walked past a van parked on the west side of the road. According to police, when the boy walked past the van, the door opened and the passenger window rolled down. The male passenger asked the boy if he wanted a ride, but when the boy said no, the woman driving the van drove away. Police searched the area, but found no one matching the description. Monday, March 5 Domestic Violence: A resident reported a female driver was being assaulted by a male passenger at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Bank Street at 2:24 a.m. Officers located the woman, but the man had fled. He came to the station and was subsequently arrested for domestic violence and booked into the county jail. Animal: An officer located a dog running loose on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 4:27 a.m., but was unable to catch it. San Anselmo Police Log shows mysterious scratching sounds from behind closed doors, desks that move from front door to back, water balloons, loud adults and untimely chain saws.

March 2, 2012 00:05 DISTURBING THE PEACE: Occurred on San Anselmo Av.  Reporting Party (RP) reported that his neighbor came over crying and asked him to contact the Police Department (PD) for assistance, possibly regarding an altercation she was having with her boyfriend. Officer responded and made contact with both subjects. The altercation was determined to be verbal only. The female subject left for the evening. Disposition: Matter resolved. 00:43 SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: Occurred on Ross Av. RP reported that his wife heard a noise followed by scratching sounds coming from an upstairs bedroom.
