Laptop Stolen at House Party, 8 Fraudulent Credit Cards Maxed Out and Bike Thieves Nabbed

This week's roundup of Central Marin Police activities in San Anselmo some loud, drunken disputes and a car getting egged.

A caller reported a man was sitting on benches near the log cabin in Memorial Park who is drinking and yelling at passersby. CMPA Officers contacted the subject and determined he was intoxicated. A New Mexico man was detained for Public Intoxication and transported to the Helen Vine Treatment Center for detoxification. 

A resident of the 600 block of Red Hill Ave. reported his neighbors are pushing and yelling at each other. He also stated he thinks they are under the influence and have been arguing for two days. Contact was made with an Azusa man and a San Anselmo man. It was determined to have been a verbal dispute only. Mediation was provided and it was determined there was no merit to subjects being under the influence. 

A resident of the 40 block of Barber Ave. reported someone opened eight credit card accounts using her personal information, all in the same day, and then “maxed out” the accounts. An Identity Theft report was taken.

A resident of the 100 block of Oak Springs Drive reported her laptop was taken from her residence while she had a few friends over. She advised there were 10 to 15 people at her residence during the time of the theft. The loss is approximately $1,430. A Grand Theft report was taken and the computer was entered into the Automated Property System.

A resident of the 50 block of Tamalpais Ave. reported via 9-1-1 that they could hear a male and female arguing in a neighboring residence. They also could also hear things being thrown and banging against the wall. Contact made with the neighboring couple. The argument was determined to have been verbal only and the matter was mediated.

Pursuant to a traffic stop in the 300 block of Red Hill Ave., the driver was determined to be on probation. A probation search was conducted and marijuana was located, confiscated, and taken for destruction. A Violation of Probation report was taken and will be forwarded to the subject’s Probation Officer.

CMPA Officers responded to Makin Grade in Fairfax to assist the Fairfax Police Department on a request for additional Officers for an “unruly gathering.” Assistance was provided. 

The Fairfax Police Department requested CMPA Officers to “be on the lookout for” two bicycle theft suspects in a theft that had just occurred. One of the involved male subjects dumped the bicycle after being spotted by the person reporting the theft to FPD and he was last seen running eastbound in the creek bed. A second involved male subject drove off in a vehicle eastbound on Center Blvd. FPD detained the first suspect and requested a cover officer. Service was provided as a San Francisco man was arrested by FPD for the theft.

A resident of the 100 block of Pine St. reported his house was just egged. He stated he heard a vehicle, but didn't see anything. The area was checked for the possible responsible subjects with negative results. Documentation was provided for the vandalism.

A resident of the 1300 block of San Anselmo Ave. requested advice regarding her juvenile son who has been acting out. Her son has purchased numerous items online using a family account without permission. She was given advice and documentation was provided for the fraud.

A resident of Magalia, Calif., reported her credit card account has been fraudulently used to make purchases. She advised she learned it was used at the Walgreen's located in San Anselmo. She has spoken to the manager at the store and learned the transaction is on video. A Fraud report was taken and there is follow-up pending.
