At the meeting of Tuesday, May 10, the Town Council took the following actions:

  • Approved a resolution endorsing the Marin 100+ garden challenge. The garden challenge is an effort to invite Marin residents to create a blanket of 100 or more sustainable gardens in every town in Marin in order to have the experience of growing food and beautifying the environment at the same time.  For more information, go to www.maringardenchallenge.org.
  • Received a presentation by Roy Bateman of the Community Development Block Grant Program on the document “Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (AI).”  The AI identifies the actions, omissions and conditions in the county that may have the effect of restricting housing choice for people protected under state and federal fair housing laws.  It also makes recommendations to overcome the effects of those impediments.  The AI can be found at: http://www.co.marin.ca.us/depts/cd/main/comdev/federal/index.cfm
  •  Approved the projects and authorized solicitation of bids for the repair of storm damaged roadways on Scenic Avenue at 460 and Redwood Road at 390.
  • Approved the resolution authorizing the dissolution of the Red Hill Community Park JPA and approved the Joint Use Agreement (JUA) between the Town and the Tamalpais Union High School District for the joint use of the field.
  •  Continued discussion of the Ross Valley Sanitary District request to appoint a Councilmember liaison with the District.

School Pool Marin

The SchoolPool Marin program helps families find others to carpool, walk, bike or take the bus together to or from school. You can reduce traffic congestion and related greenhouse gases and help your school compete for cash awards and recognition in the Green Ways to Schools Challenge.  Schools with the highest increase in “green trips” or registrations on this site will win awards ranging from $500 to $1,500.

It only takes a few minutes to register so start cooling the earth one trip at a time.  For more information go to www.SchoolPoolMarin.org.
