Give San Anselmo Your Input on Goals

Read about the town's strategic planning, Library sale, needs for volunteers and Friends of the Library book sale.

Your Input is Needed!

The San Anselmo Town Council has been working on strategic planning and is very interested in getting your input. On Saturday, March 10, between 10 a.m. and noon, please stop by the Town Hall Council Chambers and give your input on the council’s ideas for goals over the next five years.

The ideas for goals will be outlined on poster boards. They will be grouped by category, such as infrastructure, technology, community facilities, shared services, financial priorities, town rules and processes and economic development. All told, there are about 30 different ideas listed and we’d like our residents and merchants to vote for their top ten.

The town council members and the town’s department directors will all be on hand to answer questions and hear your comments.

If you can’t make it down on March 10, we will have an online and corresponding paper survey available so you can still give us your input. The survey will be available on the town website on March 10 and the link will be posted in the newsletter. In addition, the paper copy will be available in all the and the .

Volunteer Receptionists

For the last 20 years the town has had an active volunteer receptionist program. These dedicated volunteers staff our front desk in the Town Hall offices on the second floor. They answer phones, direct visitors and prepare mailings. We have a wonderful cadre of volunteers who perform this job, either every week, or every other week. The morning shift is from 8:30 a.m. to noon, and the afternoon shift is from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Currently volunteers are needed for Tuesday mornings, every other week.

If you are interested in helping in Town Hall, please call Joan Vermond at 457-9974 or j.vermond@worldnet.att.net.

Volunteers Needed

Getting involved in the town is a great way to give back to our wonderful community and meet new friends. The following boards and commissions have vacancies for which volunteers are needed:

Quality of Life Commission – The Quality of Life Commission was established to promote sustainability by defining and enhancing opportunities for sustainable practices in San Anselmo, to secure a high quality of life for San Anselmo residents within the means of nature by simultaneously meeting environmental, economic and community needs. The commission consists of seven members and meets regularly on the third Monday at 7 p.m. in Town Hall conference room.  Terms are for three years. There are five seats available.

Flood Committee – The Flood Committee was established to serve as the town’s expert representatives on flooding and storm water management issues, to become informed on the hydrologic conditions that affect flooding in San Anselmo, to evaluate possible solutions and to make recommendations to the Town Council.  Applicants are recruited from professionals in the fields of engineering, hydrology, flood control and other areas of expertise that relate to the control of storm water. Terms are for four years and there are three seats available.

Capital Program Monitoring Committee - The Capital Program Monitoring Committee, formerly called the Measure G Monitoring Committee, was established in June 1995. The committee is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the program for improvements to San Anselmo’s streets and storm drains. The committee is composed of two council members and six members of the public, with experience in engineering, construction, finance or public relations and should have familiarity with the San Anselmo community. There are four openings on the committee and the term is for four years.

For more information or an application, visit the town website or contact Jeannie Courteau at jcourteau@townofsananselmo.org or 258-4691. Applications for these openings should be submitted by Friday, March 9, 2012.

Library Book Sale

The Friends of the Library will be holding a book sale on Saturday, March 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m on the lawn in front of Town Hall. This month the book sale will feature charming vintage collectible books along with many other books.

Shared Patrol Services

After several months of cross-training and orientation, San Anselmo and Twin Cities Police uniformed patrol officers have been merged into one patrol force providing preventative patrol and emergency and non-emergency response to San Anselmo, Larkspur and Corte Madera.

Officers from both SAPD and TCPA will now be patrolling all three communities.  Don't be surprised if you see a Twin Cities Police Officer patrolling your neighborhood or responding to your home should you need our assistance. The same will be true for the residents of Larkspur and Corte Madera.

This has allowed for San Anselmo, Larkspur and Corte Madera to shift additional officers to our patrol force at no additional cost to the towns or city. We've accomplished this by reducing the duplication in management, supervisory and line level positions, therefore saving money on total compensation and benefits.

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
