Catch the Wave

Residents along Sir Francis Drake Blvd. between downtown Fairfax and the Larkspur Ferry terminal can catch the FREE Larkspur Ferry Shuttle, The Wave.

Each weekday, The Wave serves the five Larkspur Ferry departures from 6:35 a.m. to 8:20 a.m.  The shuttle returns to serve the six afternoon commute arrivals from 4:05 p.m. to 6:55 p.m.  The shuttle is FREE for Larkspur Ferry customers.  All other passengers are subject to local fares.

The Wave shuttle (designated as Route 25 in the Transit Guide, at goldengate.org, 511, Google Transit, etc.) operates along Sir Francis Drake Blvd., serving all stops between Fairfax and the Larkspur Terminal at 101 East Sir Francis Drake Blvd.

Why The Wave shuttle now?

1. To help alleviate the conditions at the Larkspur Terminal parking lot which reaches capacity by 8:30 a.m. on many weekdays, passengers were asked in a recent survey if they would consider riding a free shuttle.  Fifty-one percent of respondents indicated that they would, with the largest number of these coming from the Ross Valley communities of Fairfax, San Anselmo, Ross, Kentfield, and Greenbrae.
2. The Wave is being implemented as a demonstration project for a 9-month trial basis through June 2014.

The new shuttle is FREE for Ferry customers.  Customers can pay their transbay fare (cash or Clipper card) when they board the shuttle, and they’ll be issued a transbay transfer which should be presented to a Terminal Assistant at the Larkspur Terminal.  Local riders of the shuttle (Customers not transferring to a departing Ferry) must pay their local bus fare using cash or a Clipper card.

Holiday Parking

The Central Marin Police Authority is pleased to announce that the Town of San Anselmo is providing free parking to holiday shoppers. The free holiday shopping period begins on Friday, November 29, 2013 and will continue through Wednesday, January 1, 2014. During this period, the parking meters will not be operating. As always, however, the disabled, red zone and other safety related parking violations will be enforced.

Zero Waste

San Anselmo residents take great pride in our community by recycling and making smart purchasing decisions to keep our community a clean and beautiful place to live.  However, each and every day thousands of pounds of waste still enter our landfill.  Zero Waste Marin, a countywide program, is making strides every day to eliminate waste in Marin County by the year 2025.

As scrumptious meals are enjoyed throughout the holiday season, take note that the average family throws away $1,600 worth of food each year. For practical tips on food storage and shopping, please visit ZeroWasteMarin.org. When shopping for your holiday feast, think about purchasing items made from recycled goods or with less packaging. There are many eco-friendly options available these days.

During the holidays and beyond, please put all food scraps in your green bin or set up a compost pile in your backyard to create ‘food’ for your garden. Let’s show how San Anselmo is a model of a community that protects our natural resources.

Tunstead Live

Tunstead Live is a series of unique and captivating events, after hours, at the San Anselmo Library.

The first event, The Author’s Journey, will be held on Friday, November 15, 2013.  It begins in the Library with a wine and cheese reception at 6:30 p.m. in the Library, with the program beginning at 7:30 p.m., followed by a book signing.

Authors Annie Barrows, Jan Harper-Haines, and Jacqueline Winspear share their trials, travails, and triumphs as published authors.  Meet these best-selling local authors during the casual reception, followed by the program.
