Dog Reminders

With the wonderful summer weather upon us, it’s a great time to take the dog out walking.  Please remember that when outside their yards, dogs should be under the control of the owner at all times.  Most dogs are walking with their owners on a leash, but even dogs on leash can “take exception” to another dog and pounce unexpectedly.  The best remedy is to know your dog and avoid situations where that can happen.

Also, please remember to carry a bag and clean up after your dog when walking.  This keeps San Anselmo clean and safe for everybody!

Recreation Reminders:

Creekside Q – Wednesday, June 25, 2014, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., Creek Park.  Contact the Recreation Department at 258-4640 or recreation@townofsananselmo.org for additional information.  Tickets may be purchased online by visiting www.sananselmorecreation.org and clicking on ACTIVITIES and entering the keyword Creekside Q in the search bar.

Master Planning Survey – The Town has embarked on a project that will help determine what the community’s recreational needs, wants and dreams are, and how best to accommodate those needs in the coming years through repair, renovation or construction of new community facilities.  We are collecting your opinions using an online survey.  They survey can be found at www.visionsananselmo.org.  If you haven’t participated yet, please do!

Art Talk Tuesday

The next Art Talk Tuesday will be held on Tuesday, July 8, at noon in the Town Hall Council Chambers.

The topic is “Gorgeous” and will be presented by a docent from the Asian Art Museum.

From June 20 to September 14, the Asian Art Museum will host an exhibition of key artworks from the SFMOMA and the Asian Art Museum. These artworks have been organized in provocative new contexts, charting the boundaries of beauty, and inviting visitors to ask: What is Gorgeous?

Gorgeous features paintings, sculptures, and photographs by Marcel Duchamp, Jeff Koons, Marilyn Minter, Joan Miró, Meret Oppenheim, Trevor Paglen, Pablo Picasso, and others, grouped along with works ranging from a 1000-year-old Indian sculpture to a 16th-century Persian Koran to silk scrolls by Japanese artist Chobunsai Eishi. By juxtaposing a Mark Rothko painting with a Buddhist mandala or a 2000-year-old Chinese tomb figure with Janine Antoni's self-portrait sculpted in soap and chocolate, Gorgeous sheds new light on these works and inspires debate and discovery.

San Anselmo News, published weekly on Fridays, is available at the San Anselmo Town Hall, Library, and on the Public Notice Bulletin Board. It is also available on the Town’s website, www.townofsananselmo.org, and by email subscription.
